Battleship Cove

Yeah, I know. It's been a while since Adam and I have done anything cool. I guess we've gotten lazy.
Well, we broke our lame streak and went to Battleship Cove! Adam has been begging to go here for a very long time!
It was pretty amazing! We got to tour a PT boat, submarine, heavy cruiser, destroyer and a battleship. All of the ships had been built and used for WWII and then were upgraded and used in subsequent wars.
Currently, all the ships have been decommissioned and are open for tours.

The submarine. It was super small in the inside. There is definitely no way I could have been on a submarine.

The battleship from the outside. It was so large on the inside, I'm sure there are parts we missed. This ship had so many guns it was ridiculous. I couldn't imagine actually serving in the Navy and using the guns for real. It was super crazy!

This is the cruiser. There were some cute veterans on this ship that were very informative. They had both actually served on the ship while they were in the service. It was interesting to hear how the ship had changed in appearance for viewing purposes since it had been decommissioned.

This is the destroyer. It was a pretty fun time, so much in fact, Adam's ready to go again!

Oh my! It's Been a While.

Ever wonder what my cute young women look like? Here they are! I have really grown to love my calling! These girls are amazing and somehow, love me! I also work with some amazing women in the YW. I truly feel blessed to work with such a fabulous group of people. Remember when I was not happy about this calling and willing to give it away?

Now let's celebrate Christmas. It was nice, low key and chill. I took 2 days off of work which was awesome. I needed the time off. We were too cheap to buy a real tree this year, so the little guy made his appearance for our 6th Christmas.

And then we celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary. We celebrated by seeing "Wicked". It was just as amazing as everyone said it was. I would defintly go again!

And then I was 30! Remember how my YW love me (for some reason)? They surprised me two days before my birthday with a surprise birthday at my house. They showed up with cake, donuts, balloons and flowers. They even all took turns stating why they like me. I may or may not have teared up!
Did I mention, I had changed out of my regular clothes into PJs moments before they showed up? Yep, I'm wearing thermals. At least they still love me.

Then my cute friends took me out to dinner to celebrate!

Finally, January 11, when I was really 30, Adam took me to get a new Alex and Ani bracelet and then to my favorite seafood place in Matunuck, RI for some seared sea scallops and of course a key lime pie pop! It's amazing! Take a slice of key lime pie, stick it on a stick, dip it in white chocolate and eat it! Amazing!
Adam enjoyed some oysters. Better him than me. Yuck! Not doing that again!

And, that's it for now. Stay tuned for another blog post, coming right up!
