Crocodile Rockin'

I've never had much of a "Bucket List". The big ticket item on my bucket list was to see Sir Elton John live in concert. Every time he played a show in the town I was in I would say, "Man! What I wouldn't give to go to an Elton John concert!".

So my dreams finally came true! Elton came to Providence and I jumped at the chance to attend the show.
I told Adam about my dream to go and he was in full support. However, I had a crazy idea. I told Adam I would rather attend the show alone. That way I could spend the money of two seats on one really awesome seat. Which is exactly what I did.

I spent more than I'm proud to say, but I had great floor seats for the show! I figure, if this is a once in a lifetime type of thing, I might as well go big or not go at all!

Sadly, my phone sucks, so the photos aren't too good. Word to the wise. If you're going to your dream concert, take a nice camera.

Quasi Chef for the Day

No, not Adam. Me!

My girlfriends and I decided to branch out and try a Greek cooking class offered through Johnson and Wales University. I was very excited to learn some awesome new techniques and delicious recipes.

The menu was filled with many delicious (unpronounceable) Greek delicacies.

We even had our own minions JWU students to help us along.

And our very own chef to teach us the ropes. Didn't hurt that he was also Greek.

After our class (20 or so of us) finished all the menu items, we sat down to a delicious lunch in the dining room. Bon Appetit!

Johnny Cakes, Yum!

I love Rhode Island and it's crazy festivals! I heard about a festival that celebrated johnny cakes. I had no idea what they were, only that true Rhody's loved 'em.
It was on my calendar last year to attend, but sadly, I forgot. So this year there was no way I was going to miss it!

It took place in somewhere southern RI. And, it was delicious! Isn't that really the only real reason to go to a festival? For the food? That's why I go.

You aren't official without your johnny cake wristband.

Wanna know what a johnny cake is? It's ground corn meal cooked on a skillet like a pancake. I liken it to the texture and flavor of Cream-of-Wheat in pancake form covered in buttery, syrupy goodness.

This is the mill where the corn is ground into meal. They use stone to grind the corn.

The beautiful fall view by the mill.

Finally, the delicious festival food that Adam seems to be really in to.

Fun With Lars and Ameil (aka Mom and Dad)

My mom and dad just came to Rhode Island for an awesome leisurely time.
Here's what we did.

Beavertail Lighthouse and the Newport Mansions.

Gillette Castle in Connecticut.

Apple picking at Barden Orchard. They have the BEST apple cider!
Shhh...Don't tell them we ate some apples while picking.

We hit up the Cranberry Harvest Celebration for the third year in a row! So glad we got to share the awesomeness with my parents.

My dad liked the machine so much they let him try it out

Spent some time at Water Fire. Happy we got to show them how great this event is also.

Mom finally got to try a frozen lemonade, even though she was freezing!

And finally, we were locked out of a few National Parks and rode a few things while in Boston.

I'm so glad my parents finally made it out to see us! It was a great time and was wonderful to show them where we live. Even if they stole our bed and the power of the tiger blanket ;)
